Last year for my Birthday, I asked Asuha to buy me the Memento Mori Life Calendar. I only recently hang it up on the closet door and started marking weeks off it. Each box represent one week and the calender only has 4160 Weeks; 80 years. This calendar represents the average human life span in weeks and I have crossed the half way point in February this year.
Looking back, I did what I set out to do. I never married when I was supposed to, never had kids when I was suppossed to, didn't do the job I was supposed to.
Instead, I chose a path sprinkled with unpredictability, excitement and choas. I embraced the unknown, the uncharted territories that were met with dubious eyes and whispers. But in doing so, I found a richness of experience, a tapestry of moments that were genuinely mine.
I lived a life colored by my choices, my mistakes, my learnings, and my joys. It wasn’t a journey marked by societal checkmarks, but it was beautifully authentic, intricately woven with threads of discovery, growth and rebellion.
Each crossed box is a battle won, a tiny chapter written, a reminder to continue to color outside the lines and embrace the splendid chaos of being a boy from Marsiling.
