My choice for the TV series of the year is entirely biased. I have been playing Fallout since its first game, and Fallout 3 remains one of my favorite games of all time.
There is something unforgettable about its world of decay, survival, and haunting loneliness. I have been postponing another playthrough of the series, knowing how much time it demands, yet the thought of a remastered collection on the Nintendo Switch is tempting.
The show brings the universe of Fallout to life with all its contradictions. It is a world of harsh beauty, where the ruins of a once-thriving civilization tell stories of hope and despair. Watching it felt like stepping into a familiar place that still finds ways to surprise you.
The vaults are what linger most in my mind. In the games, they were experiments disguised as sanctuaries, places that turned survival into something sinister.
The series captures the suffocating dread of those vaults. It is not just the horror of what happens there, but the idea of imagining yourself locked inside, cut off from the world, and realizing the walls around you are not there to protect you.
The cruelty and manipulation are presented with unflinching clarity, making you wonder how far humanity would go in the name of survival.
The characters face the impossible choices that define this world. Each step they take, whether through the barren wasteland or the crumbling remains of the old world, feels heavy with consequence.
The show does not shy away from asking hard questions about who we are when everything familiar is stripped away.
Fallout has always been more than a story about survival. It is about what happens when the worst has already come to pass, and yet people continue to fight, to build, to live. Watching the series reminded me why this world has stayed with me for so long.
P.S. What was your favourite TV show of the year?
