When I started Alpha Chromatica, I made a decision very early.
I was not going to spend my time arguing with strangers on the internet.
There are certain topics that instantly turn into endless debates.
God. Religion. Politics. AI. The “current state of the VFX industry.”
Everyone has an opinion about them, and those opinions are usually tied to something personal. Once a conversation moves into that territory, the goal stops being understanding and becomes winning. Nobody changes their mind. The discussion just keeps going in circles.
So I made a rule for myself.
I would not write about those topics.
Instead, I would focus on the work. Teaching. Building systems. Helping artists become useful in real production.
And recently I’ve been exploring generative AI workflows. I want to see how much of it can actually be useful for VFX and 3D work.
Most of what you see online is experimentation. Interesting, but chaotic. A lot of copying workflows without understanding what they are doing.
So I started testing things myself.
Yesterday I managed to get the whales to move. Nothing dramatic. Just a subtle float through the air and a small camera move to give the shot a sense of life.
For now, that is enough in Comfy.
Just a small technical step forward.
In a strange way, I feel like I’m moving the same way those whales are.
Slowly. Quietly. Suspended in the current.
Not rushing. Not fighting.
Just drifting forward and seeing where the journey will take me.
