I had the opportunity to design and deliver 4 weeks of online Compositing training to more than 20 new hires for DNEG Stereo back in 2023.

Those hires continued their training with the incomparable rockstar: Erik Classen to learn the ins and outs of stereo elements extraction required for their roles. It was a great experience for me to meet such a diverse group of eager young people, watching them grow rapidly as they tackled whatever training challenge I threw at them. When the Compositing team needed some extra hands, I was told they were able to jump in and help as well.

It’s very meaningful to see their names in the credits of movies like Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, The Little Mermaid, and Fast X (see images below).

Former trainees, time has passed and I know some of you have changed roles, studios, or industries. I’m thankful our paths could cross and am confident that each of you brings fresh ideas and problem-solving savvy to whatever you do now. I hope we can meet in person someday in Montreal or Vancouver.
