How did we film Hiroka Oizumi being interviewed with her past self? Compositing!
After my struggle to get our rented lighting kit set up, we put the camera on a tripod and started filming the interview with past Hiroka. To get natural timing for any interactions between both Hiroka's and have an accurate eye line, interviewer Marcia and I took turns as stand-in's for present Hiroka. I originally intended to play back the footage for Hiroka to react to, but because of limited time, she had to rely on her memory and reacting to the stand in's answers.
It was going smoothly until I accidentally bumped the tripod. I did my best to re-align it, but had to compromise with "close enough" due to our limited time in the studio space. Later in post, I corrected the footage misalignment as best as I could.
