Chroma 0256
Alison, one of our talented compositors, has been keeping her skills sharp by working on a brand new set extension shot. But, as is often the case, she ran into an unexpected issue with one of the assets on my server.
For those of you who don't know, I have a secret Calendly link for my former students of Alpha Chromatica Education (ACE). I told them if they have any issues, to schedule a Zoom call with me, and I will do my best to help them.
This call started at 9pm on a friday night with Alison and Chris and went on for like 80 minutes. We started off by chitchatting and then me trying to help her remotely.
I suspected that the geometry might be using UDIMs despite the texture maps not having UDIM naming conventions. It was a hunch based on my past experiences dealing with various Kitbash model kits.
After my Zoom call, I tested my hunch, and I was right - the UVs were indeed following a UDIM workflow.
I recorded a two part video showing how to solve this issue esp if you are using models from Big Medium Small - https://lnkd.in/g5BsKy46
Unfortunately, you do need a 3D program for this because you can't manipluate UVs in Nuke!
P.S. How many of you wish Nuke's 3D system was as feature-rich as Blender?
