Back in 2010, when I was a student learning Visual Effects, I wanted a simple way to keep track of all the cool VFX videos my friends were sharing and the ones I would see on my Facebook feed.

One of the issues with Facebook back then was that after a couple of days or a week, trying to find the same video became a time-consuming endeavor, as you had to go through your entire feed. So, I simply reposted it to my own account. This inadvertently annoyed many of my connections, as each post I used for bookmarking purposes sent them a notification!

On February 15, 2011, two days after my birthday, I started a blog where I collected these videos and posted them on a weekly basis. I posted well over 5,000 videos over a 10-year period. I spent one night each week posting these videos. I simply did this out of my love for all things Visual Effects, to share with my students and the general public the amazing work that studios and artists across the world do for our entertainment.

On September 2, 2021, I decided to close that blog and start a brand-new one called TheMasterComp.com with the intention to share all my compositing knowledge. Since then, I have managed to post over 1,000 videos on my blog. I was pretty consistent until I had to deal with all the shenanigans at my old workplace. The consequence of which was the birth of Alpha Chromatica and Alpha Chromatica Education (ACE).

A week ago, I decided to relaunch my blog. I migrated to Wordpress.com, built a new theme and imported all my old posts. After a one-year hiatus, I am excited to relaunch this blog and update it weekly.
