In Which You Need to Learn to Protect Yourself - Part 3

HR can be deceptive.

Typically, HR has no reason to be dishonest in most interactions. However, they are not legally required to be truthful. When conflicts arise, you can expect them to prioritize their job security over your interests.

This can lead to misleading statements and actions designed to protect the company, not you.

Common scenarios where HR might mislead employees include write-ups and performance improvement plans. They might claim you were frequently late when you were not, or accuse you of insubordination or a bad attitude without justification. These small falsehoods can accumulate and result in your termination, and because employment defamation laws are weak, they often get away with it. It's the company's word against yours.

During legal disputes, HR's dishonesty becomes more pronounced. It is not uncommon for HR reps to fabricate records of verbal warnings or deny previous complaints similar to yours.

They do this to avoid implicating the company in any wrongdoing, which could be costly. Their priority is to protect the company's interests, even at the cost of your job.

The only effective way to counter these tactics is to have a skilled employment lawyer who can challenge their statements during legal proceedings. But this is going to cost you three things. Your time, your money and the mental health of you and your family.

Only you can decide if you want to go thru with this or simply walk away.
