The Siege of Eregion demanded an intricate blend of digital environments, crowd simulations, and meticulous animation. Practical sets were expanded with CG elements, capturing the gritty realism of a city under siege.
DNEG’s team faced unique challenges like creating overcast lighting to suit the Orcs’ aversion to sunlight while maintaining visual depth through firelit accents and green patinas from Eregion’s iconic architecture.
But Damrod stole the show. Inspired by the stoic demeanor of Jonathan Banks’ Breaking Bad character, this troll wasn’t just a brute but a calculated presence on the battlefield. With flaming weapons and Orcs as shields, he’s as much a part of the story as the heroes themselves.
