Lincoln Dupree, our freelance FX artist, brought this shot to life using
SideFX Houdini FX’s SOP (Surface Operators) level to simulate tire smoke.
The setup is a blend of precision and artistry, leveraging nodes like
Pyro Solver, Volume Rasterize Attributes, and meticulous
attribwrangles to shape the behavior of smoke.
Every detail, from density and temperature to force, was carefully
tuned for realistic interaction with the car’s motion.
This marks a first for Alpha Chromatica Education (ACE) : an in-house
FX project where Ganz could hand off FX renders to ACE Class 3 & 4
compers for integration.
It’s been a technical learning experience for all, with Lincoln’s efforts
setting a high standard for future FX projects.
Small-scale, high-quality projects like this define our focus, where
every detail matters. Every pixel here is a step toward mastering
photorealism.
Stay tuned for the final composite!
