Lincoln Dupree, our remote FX TD, is using pyro in SideFX Houdini FX to simulate realistic tire smoke for a car.
It’s a meticulous setup that considers every attribute from density and temperature to force, creating a smoke trail that behaves exactly as it should.
In Karma Viewport, those vibrant particles might look flashy, but each hue represents a carefully controlled variable, adding depth to how smoke trails interact with speed and motion.
The setup itself is loaded with attribwrangles and volumerasterizeattributes, and precise adjustments to ensure the smoke rolls off the tire.
Lincoln’s experimenting, iterating, and honing his workflow in Houdini, with each tweak bringing him closer to a result our compers are going to be able to pick up and use.
