Chat is great at talking. It explains things well. It helps you think through a problem.

But ask it to send an email, and it stops. It can't see your calendar. It can't see your files. It forgets what you told it yesterday.

Tool hookups like Cowork, Drive, and MCP don't fix this. You still drive every step yourself.

Every new chat starts at zero. You re-explain who you are. You re-paste your context. You're the one holding it all together.

The deeper issue is chat produces text that comes out different every time. That's fine for brainstorming. It breaks the moment you need something done.

The fix software relies on is consistent input. Click compose in Gmail, and you get the same window every time. That consistency is why software works at all.

The problem with AI text is it's messy by default. It needs cleanup before it can touch anything real.

The gap isn't intelligence. AI is already smart enough. The gap is the pipe, the thing that connects AI to your tools and turns its output into action.

Build that pipe, and AI stops talking and starts working. It remembers things. It acts on them. It finishes the job.

The chat box should become a place to say what you want done. Not a place to explain your life over and over.
