You want to be understood. As an artist, that pull runs deep, because so much of what you make is an attempt to be seen. So you share more, post more, explain more, hoping someone out there finally gets the whole picture of who you are.

Let me offer you some relief. Nobody is ever going to know all of you, and that is not a failure. Being known partway is plenty.

There is a growing hunger to be fully understood, and social media feeds it. People lay out every detail of their day for an audience of near-strangers, half of them never met in person, all of it sending the same quiet plea. See me. Notice me. Understand me.

The wish is sincere, so I will be gentle with it. It still won't come true. You will never be completely known, and you will never completely know your friends either. That door does not open all the way for anyone.

Chasing deep closeness with a crowd is a mirage. Let go of that chase and you are free to treasure the few real connections already sitting in front of you.
