The project that felt too big, too personal, too far outside what I thought I was allowed to pursue, I shelved it.

Went back to the safer brief. The one that paid. The one that made sense to everyone else.

Most of us Artist do this without even noticing.

But here's what I've learned: the things that excite you aren't accidental.

You can't want what you don't already have the capacity for. The work that keeps pulling at you is pointing at something real inside you, something that already exists and is waiting to be built.

The only thing standing between you and that work isn't talent. It isn't timing. It's your willingness to take it seriously enough to start.

The desire already knows the way. You just have to decide to follow it.
